Satellite Internet services canbe accessed from locations where wired internet is not available. It allows theflexibility and mobility to access the web network when you are travelling. Youmay be in a bus, train, aeroplane or even in ships, in the large oceanicstretches, you can access the internet, using the satellites as hosts. Thesatellite internet services can be categorized in three types:

 

• One way multicast: This type of satellite internet systems are used for distribution of audio, video files  and IP (Internet Protocol) multicast based data

 

• One-way terrestrial return: This  satellite internet system is used as the conventional dial-up access to the Internet. In such dial ups, the data is sent via a telephone modem, but the received data is downloaded through satellite, at a speed close to that of the broadband internet access. Some one-way internet system by satellites may also involve the use of GPRS (General Packet Radio Service).

 

• Two-way: This satellite internet service tranmits data from remote servers via the satellite to the host server, which then forwards it to the web network
